How to Make a Baby Registry on Target

I can't believe I'm almost at the halfway point in my 2nd pregnancy! Baby #2 is coming this September, and I'm just starting to think about what we're going to need. It's funny how when I was pregnant with Little A I was on top of everything and started prepping super early but this time around I've been slacking. Whoops.

One thing I've started working on is a baby registry. We don't need a whole lot for the next baby since we still have most of Little A's baby stuff. The main reason why I love creating baby registries is because of all the samples and coupons you get sent - plus they're free to create! The bottle samples during my last pregnancy were my all time favorite because it let us try out different bottles before buying a ton and then end up not using them.

I started my baby registry with Target and got a chance to pick up my Baby Registry gift bag. Here's the full inside scoop on what's included in this year's bag, how to get one, and more. I'll keep updating as I get more coupons sent through the program

How to Get a Free Bag

When you create a baby registry with Target (either online or in person) you get a coupon on your registry page to redeem for a free gift bag! The coupon can be redeemed either in store at customer service, or online if you make a purchase over $35.

When I first when to try to redeem my coupon the store I visited was completely out and the cashier told me that they've been running out of baby registry bags pretty quickly. I got lucky the next time I stopped by and they had plenty!

Inside the Target Baby Registry Welcome Bag

(Spoiler Alert: jump over this section if you want to be surprised on what's inside!)

The welcome bag is FILLED with a ton of freebies and coupons! Inside the bag:

all the samples and coupons inside the target baby registry bag
  • Huggies Diapers (3 pack)
  • Mam Bottle and pacifer (it's hidden in the bottom of the bottle)
  • Avent Bottle
  • Dr. Brown's Bottle
  • Aveeno Baby Lotion Sample
  • Boogie Wipe Sample
  • Pampers Sensitive Wipes Samples
  • Water Wipes
  • Honest Co. Plant Based Wipes
  • Aquaphor Diaper Rash Sample
  • Baby Bum Coconut Balm
  • Lansinoh Breast milk storage bags
  • Lansinoh Disposable nipple pads
  • Pedialyte Electrolyte Powder (for mom)
  • Palmer's Cocoa Butter Massage Lotion Sample (for mom)
  • Cute reusable bag

Plus a ton of really high value coupons like $2 off Dreft Laundry detergent, $1.50 off Pampers Swaddlers Diapers, $5 off Pampers purchase at Target, $3 off Huggies Special Delivery Diapers, and more. The nice thing is most of these coupons don't expire until the end of the year so you don't feel rushed to use up the coupons before baby's here.

The bag also came with a pamphlet to scan and add Target store coupons, but when I scanned them nothing showed up in my app. I read online that these coupons are time sensitive and usually show up over the course of your pregnancy - I'll update this post when they start to show up!

Update: The coupons have begun showing up, but randomly. I noticed the Starbucks one appeared in my Circle deals when I was shopping one day, and then it disappeared a few days later.

39 Week Registry Coupon Update

I'm now 39 weeks (woohoo!) and have used some of the registry perks. So far I've used the online registry completion discount and that was super easy to use. I still have 1 use remaining in store that I'm planning to use once the baby arrives.

I'm disappointed to say I still haven't received the breast pump coupon. I have been hearing rumors that this Target Circle deal is no longer offered, which is a bummer. I'm going to keep checking until after the baby arrives and hopefully it'll show up then! I do still think that Target has one of the best registry programs, despite the Target circle coupon confusion.

Target Baby Registry Perks

Target has one of my favorite baby registry programs not only because I love Target (it might as well be my second home at this point), but I like they have a "universal registry" option so you can add items onto your registry from other stores.

Target's registry is also really easy to set up and unlike the other baby registry, you can get your welcome kit the same day you set it up and don't have to spend any money to get it.

Benefits of Setting Up a Baby Registry

One of the biggest benefits of having a baby registry is most stores - Target included - will give you a big coupon to help complete your registry. Target gives you a 15% off coupon a few months before your due date so you can complete your registry.

The nice thing is the coupon doesn't only have to be used for baby registry things, but can also apply to almost everything in the store. If you have the Target Red Card, you can also stack that 5% off with the coupon and so it ends up being 20% off. This is the biggest reason why I created registries for my 2nd baby so I could get these discounts.

How Much Does the Target Baby Registry Cost?

Another great thing about the Target Baby registry is that it's completely free to set up! You don't need to pay anything to set it up. This is one of the reasons why I always recommend new moms (and second, third, etc.) create a registry for each baby because the registries are completely free and give you access to exclusive discounts.

How to Find the Target Baby Registry

To create your own free registry, go to Target's site and click on the "Registry" page on the top left side (it's under the search bar).

You'll be given an option to search registries or create your own baby or wedding registry. Click on the "Create a Baby Registry" button and after you answer a few questions, you'll be able to create a registry. One thing to note is that you do need a Target.com account (which is free to set up) in order to create a baby registry.

Once you create your registry, it'll show up online as well as in Target stores.

Diaper Fund

Target doesn't offer a diaper fund officially, but there are ways to create your own diaper fund on the baby registry.

  • Add the diapers you want to the registry as items (make sure you do more than 1!)
  • Request gift cards on the registry

Other Baby Registry Programs with Freebies

While Target has my favorite baby registry, there are some other great baby registry programs out there. Here are a few other good ones

  • Amazon
  • buybuyBaby
  • Babylist
  • Walmart

Final Thoughts

I highly recommend registering for the Target baby registry, especially if you're a red card. The Welcome Bag is jammed pack with awesome freebies and the coupons are worth it. I'm not sure if the stuff inside is actually worth the $120 the pamphlet claims but it is packed with good samples that you'll actually use.
